Dardilly
2010

Here we see a recurrence of one of the themes that are dear to Frédéric Sofia. That of a random pattern of layers that, once stacked, catches the eye and gradually blurs one's vision. Designed for a private residence as an architectural threshold, these front gates, made of aluminum slats, create, through an interplay of lines, the double sensation of a sort of visual vibration and a kind of minimalist geometry, like that of an empty stave. The eye is attracted to it and drinks it in, with a spatial arrangement that's not only scalable but also has playfulness as its prime objective. YS
